Ugo is one of motorsport’s hottest prospects with the American-born racer part of McLaren’s academy as he competes in FRECA with PREMA.

Ugo’s triumph in the FIA’s leading junior karting championship means he joins fellow ADD driver and McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris by having this title to his name.

Ugo began his karting career in America and has since racked up numerous karting championships such as the Junior ROK Challenge of the Americas and Mini X30 IAME All-Stars Finals in 2017.

His first major karting success came when he won the Mkro ROK Cup USA Championship in 2014 when he was just seven years old.

The 14-year-old American won the prestigious OK-Junior FIA European karting championship in 2020 with Kart Republic. The previous winners of the competition include British F1 drivers Norris and George Russell as well as four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel.

2021 was another fruitful year for Ugo as he was signed by McLaren, a well-deserved reward for coming fourth in the CIK-FIA World Karting Championship in OK karts, as well as WSK Euro Series title runner-up.

Ugo’s first year in single-seaters was a successful one, securing third-place overall and top rookie in British Formula 4. He showed his prowess in tricky, wet conditions at Brands Hatch with a superb win for Carlin.

With two wins and 11 podiums, Ugo made the step up from British F4 to Italian and European F4 with Prema in 2023. Unsurprisingly, the success continued for him, winning the Euro 4 championship, while securing top three championship finishes in Italian F4 and F4 UAE.

Ugo’s rise through the ranks continues in 2024 with the Formula Regional Championship by Alpine, as he sticks with Italian outfit Prema. As he moves one step closer to F1’s two main feeder categories - Formula 2 and Formula 3, title success is surely the aim.

“Ugo is one of karting's most exciting prospects and to see what he has achieved at just 13 is simply remarkable. We're thrilled to have him on board and we can't wait to see what we can achieve together.”
