Long-time series leader Lando Norris is ready to go in to battle on “home” soil for FIA Formula 2 Championship honours when the British teenager travels the short distance to Silverstone for two more races next weekend (7-8 Jul). The McLaren Test & Reserve driver, who lives 130-miles from the Northamptonshire venue in Glastonbury, Somerset, now lies second and 10-points adrift of the series leader at the halfway stage in his maiden 24-race F2 season campaign, Lando having led the championship since the first race until this weekend’s final race (30 Jun-1 Jul).

Lando Norris heads for the next FIA Formula 2 Championship event at the Red Bull Ring in Austria next weekend (29 Jun-01 Jul) with a 13-points series lead and determined to return to winning ways. The 18-year-old was an innocent victim of the car’s particularly troublesome hand-operated clutch which has now caused the majority of the drivers in the 20-car field to stall at the start of races – yesterday’s Feature race marking the first time Norris had failed to score a championship point. The McLaren Test & Reserve driver impressively battled his Carlin entered Dallara into fifth place from the back of the grid in today’s Sprint race at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet.

This meeting also marked the end of the first half of the season for the German. After a terrific showing in the ADAC Formula 4 at the Red Bull Ring just over a week ago, he was particularly keen to get started as he headed to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

The ADAC Formula 4 season went into round four at the Red Bull Ring last weekend. With three remaining fixtures on the calendar, the tension is beginning to mount. Not least in the rookie classification of the ADAC High-Speed Academy. One of the two main contenders is Niklas Krütten. The BWT Mücke Motorsport driver arrived in Austria trailing the leader in this particular class by six points. At the end of an almost perfect weekend on the Formula 1 track against an impressive Alpine backdrop, Krütten took third place in the last race of three. Two rookie victories were enough to elevate him back to the top of the category for newcomers to single-seater racing.

Fourth race weekend in the Formula 4 Italian Championship for Niklas Krütten at Monza. The BWT Mücke Motorsport driver battled again for first-class finishes at the historic circuit in Lombardy. The 15-year-old turned in an impressive performance with P10 in the first race and P7 in Race 3, which enabled him to secure his third and fourth Rookie podiums. He looked like achieving another top result in the second race, as he was in a promising position, but the second race at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza was stopped before the end following a crash.

The second meeting of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship was held last weekend at the Hungaroring, in the suburbs of Budapest, Hungary. The Carlin team and Sacha Fenestraz searched for performance, but struggled in qualifying. Nevertheless, the Renault Sport Academy driver moved up through the field on three occasions to score valuable points in the general classification.
