The 20-year-old was at his pacey best to set his Barwell Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan GT3 team up for their third victory of the campaign. Despite Martin and Patrick Kujala being joined by new teammate Hunter Abbott for the first time, they formed a fearsome trio who were too strong for the rest of the Pro-Am class. And after sealing second place in the Championship, they were fittingly joined in the celebrations by teammate Adrian Amstutz following his horror crash last time out.  The ADD Motorsports-supported racer said: “It was a great weekend and a brilliant way to finish the campaign.  “We were really fast and starting with Hunter really paid off. But everyone played their part.  “If things had gone our way at Spa, we would have been battling for the title today. “But to be the only team with three wins and to come second overall is a really good effort in the end.  “It was pretty emotional having Adrian there after what happened at Spa and when Patrick bought the car home he shouted ‘Adrian, this is for you’ over the radio. “To be be able to celebrate with him was a real fitting way to end the season.” 

After securing a second win in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at the Paul Ricard 1000km in June, the team had moved up to just eight points behind the leaders. But a crash involving Amstutz during July’s Total 24 Hours of Spa left him hospitalized with severe burns and broken ribs – and ended their race. With the driver working hard on his recovery, Hunter Abbott was bought in as the car No.77’s new AM driver for Barcelona.  But while they looked fast in the wet during testing, they struggled for pace in the dry.They qualified in 24th, 29th and 18th overall, with Martin bringing the car home in second in class in his lap, with the car and tyres then saved for the third session. Abbott got off to a decent start when the racing began, although lost some places later on, with Martin taking control of the car in 30th position and 7th in class.  Despite being hampered by traffic, he got the car up to 22nd overall and third in class – closing the gap impressively time-wise on the leaders.

"Kujala was then able to bring the car home in 16th place overall but first in class and around 25 seconds ahead of their nearest rival to seal second place in the Championship. Martin will now spend the next few months assessing his options for next season alongside his management team, where they admit they are open to different championships. Martin added: “It’s been a real rollercoaster season, with some amazing highs and great wins, but obviously the crash and injuries to Adrian were a really difficult time. “We’re just so happy Adrian is OK and it was amazing to have him there with us at the end. “I want to thank everyone at Barwell Motorsports and my teammates for a great season. “Now we are looking at different options for next year and I’m really excited to see how the next chapter of my driving career unfolds.” Fraser Sheader, director of performance and management team ADD Motorsports added: “We’re really pleased with Martin, who has showed a real maturity in his performances this year.  “He is continually working hard and always improving and has had another great season with some impressive highlights. “We have lots of different routes we can take next year, but for now it’s about taking our time and working out what’s best for him at this important time in his career.”
